sun rise or set?

State of the Union speech last night.  WOO HOO!  I tried to watch but simply could not get past the endless speculation provided by the news agencies.  Each time I tuned in it appeared more like a campaign speech than a  " state of" speech.  Again,  we were treated to an assault on our intelligence.  Same old same old crap.  Its somebody else's fault.  We are going to create jobs,  get out of our longest war,  deal with illegal aliens,  blah blah blah.

I need not watch the State of the Union speech.  I am aware of the issues facing this country.  I am awaiting actual, workable plans to start the process of solving these issues.  I don't have a problem stating my position on issues.  Illegal means illegal.  Granting immunity to 11 million people simply creates a different class.  We have procedures for becoming citizens.  Free enterprise has worked for us for hundreds of years.  We create lots of jobs.  Sadly those jobs are in foreign countries.  We need to be more cautious not to create trade imbalance with those countries.  Again,  our inability to have clear, measurable goals in our little "wars" has cost us billions of dollars and the waste of countless lives.  I do not believe we have changed a thing in Afganistan.

This Union is in a constant state of grid-lock.  Our two party system is unable to work out problems that face this country.  Instead,  we are like two children that are unwilling to concede, just because.
The current administration has been unable to solve the fundamental problems that have plagued us for the entire term.

I no longer believe any elected official.  If a Republican said the sun was up, a Democrat would either claim it was not, or blame the Republican party!  No-one is to blame or deserves credit for the rise and set of the sun.

Want some cheese with that whine?

Unbelievable.  People in Atlanta blame local government officials for their inability to drive on icy roads.  Had those idiots in Atlanta been patient and not decided they must get out and drive immediately,  there may have been a way to treat roads for the icy conditions.  However,  with thousands of vehicles stuck on the road, it was an impossible task to clear roads of snow and treat the slick conditions.  Weather warnings were posted almost 48 hours in advance of the inclement weather.

Now, I have had the misfortune of being in Atlanta during some poor weather.  The Idiots there continue to drive well above the speed limit when they should reduce their speed and/ or just get off the road.  After all,  those SUV's are supposed to go anywhere, right.  A lot of them went in the ditch, so I guess that was new areas of adventure.  People of the south,  snow makes roads slick.  Your local officials can't stop that.  Just admit you can't drive on slick roads.  Stop looking for someone else to blame.......dumb asses.

More stuff

A baseball player was given a large suspension.  Taking a banned substance and lying about it were his undoing.  He competes in a world where unrealistic money is to be had.  The temptation to cheat is huge.  The competition cheats as well.  These overgrown kids are treated like Gods for most of their life.  They don't know any better.  I could care less.

I watched the Little League World  Series again.  What fun.  Sports at its best.

Oh yea, New Years

This past New Years eve,  I did what I am supposed to do,  I made New Year Resolutions.  It wasn't a difficult chore,  I have made the same ones for years.

#1  I vowed to eat healthier.  I haven't started yet because I haven't run out of excuses not to.

#2  I am sincere about losing some weight.  I have made this vow for 15 years.  I am proud to say I am achieveing this resolution.  I want to lose 40 pounds and at my present rate of weight loss will have met that goal in 2045.

#3  I promised to spend more time with my family.  This is also working.  I see my family more often,  mostly because I am too fat to accomplish normal tasks without help.

#4  I resolved to exercise more to aid in my quest to be healthier overall.  Just bending over to tie my shoes is strenuous enough to make me break out in a sweat. I have to stretch before I can roll my ass out of bed in the morning.  Getting up 3 times in the middle of the night to pee is more than enough exercise.  So, I figure I am well on my way to exceeding this resolution.

#5  New this year is that I resolve to not continue to make these stupid resolutions ever again.  It is such a blow to my ego.

Ok, enough about this crap.  I need a cookie.

I Spy You

Did you ever type (do we still type?) your name into the inner-web?  Interesting stuff in there.  Maybe even a little scary.  I am not one of those worriers that believe Big Brother is watching for some sinister reason.  I am, however, curious as to just who it is that takes the time to put stuff about everyday citizens into the web and organizes it.

With all the talk these days about the Governments spying and data collection,  I wonder if the people with that phobia about being watched have some legitimate concerns.  If you can believe the news today,  and that is a stretch sometimes, 200 million phone calls are monitored daily.  Reportedly if you use certain words or terms,  you might get visited by Homeland Security,  the FBI or some other rogue Federal Agency.  Now, I am not worried in the least that I may be shuttled off in the middle of the night to some secret dungeon and waterboarded.

But,  I do wonder to what end these web sites have been created.  One site would allow me to create an account and by doing so I can access "private"  information concerning any individual I wish to poke into my new little laptop.  I can in essence become a SPY.  I can obtain phone numbers, e-mail addresses, legal doings, etc..  What the hell?  I can do this under the guise of background checks in case I want to hire your worthless butt!  Just kidding,  I would never hire you.

From now on this blog is strictly spy stuff!

D--Fence

Just finished watching the Denver Broncos beat the New England Patriots.  Wasn't a very close game.  The Patriots left their defense in the locker room.  I believe most quarterbacks in the National Football League could have found open receivers in the Patriots backfield.  But.........we are gonna be subjected to more Payton is God bulls---.  All the hype leading up to this game has been Manning verses Brady.  Guess what .....Manning didn't win any more than Brady lost this game.  New England Defense couldn't stop my Mom in a wheelchair let along other professional football players.  If Payton Manning had not had a good game I should of thought he had gone blind.

I am not a Manning hater,  I simply tire of our obsession to worship individuals from a team sport.  I do not appreciate the constant bombardment.  Good job Denver Broncos.  May the NFC champions kick your ass!!!!!

sports stuff

Speaking of sports.....here is some thoughts.

Peyton Manning,  Tom Brady, or any other individual player has never won a team sport all by themselves.  Hence the word TEAM.

A-Rod is an A-Hole.

No one is the GREATEST OF ALL TIME.  Time isn't over yet.  The Games and Rules change as does the training and equipment.  It's gotta be enough to be very good at what you do.  Statistics are subject to interpretation.  By that I mean,  what criteria is in fact the most important?

Why don't you have to actually be IN the end-zone to score a touchdown?

Why do you actually have to be out-of-bounds to be out-of-bounds?

Why can't someone figure out how to make baseball on TV less boring?

MMA is as close to gladiatorial contests as we can get.......today!

Hows come when you have a 3 point lead with just seconds to go you don't foul the opponents so they cannot make a 3-point basket to tie the game?

Instant replay ruins the game.  Officiating is part of the game.

Why do coaches and fans believe that the other team is the only ones to foul?  Ever see coaches or fans complain that the other team is being screwed!

Hockey is a stupid game.

Its your fault.......dumba--!

A co-worker and I were discussing sports today.  We do this pretty much every day.  Primary topic for today was sports and injuries.  It seems that athletes today hold everyone except themselves responsible for their game related injuries.  I watch and enjoy a number of sports.  I have yet to find the slave leagues.  By that I mean that I understand participation in sports at all levels to still be voluntary.  Young athletes dream of making it to the next level where they will be treated  more god-like.  From early age,  people that show some signs of prowess in sports are treated differently than the mere mortals around them.  They enter a life of privilege and treatment of being special.  The pot of gold at the base of the rainbow can be substantial.  In some rare cases millions of dollars.

That being said.  Why then is it someone Else's responsibility for injuries sustained in an attempt to cash in.  I just imagine that playing a sport that has a certain level of physical violence associated with it is somehow no longer free choice.  Lets see,  I think I will be a boxer.  I am sure that my opponent won't hit me over and over in the head.  Or maybe I'll be a football player.  After all I get to wear a helmet.  No one will smack me in the head there.  Naw,  I'll play soccer.  After all the ball is soft so when I use my head to kick it, it can't    possibly do  damage.

If you choose to play a sport with injuries and violence associated with it, then take responsibility for your own well being.  It is not someone Else's fault.  Are you so dumb as to not understand the risk involved in  the reward?  You are to blame!

Back at it

Its been a long time since my last words of wisdom.  I fought and fought with my older laptop until I finally called uncle.  I had threatened it many many times but never really had any real intent to pitch it into the street.  Between being very busy at work and losing the battle with my little electronic buddy,  I had not managed to keep up with this affair.  Well all that is changing.  I have a brand new computer.  This thing has enough power to run the International Space Station.  It is so fast it almost completes my thoughts.  (That may not be as difficult as it once was!)  It actually runs on a battery so I can use it even in the crapper.

So buckle up,  I have ground to make up and politicians are a never ending source of stupidity for me to work with.
