I will share thoughts on a variety of subjects and would encourage readers to comment as they wish. I may, however, edit responses to keep dumb asses from showing themselves!

Ebola
Ebola. Scary stuff. Are we sure we understand all we should?
If you choose to go to the epicenter of the outbreak, do not travel to some other country until it is clear, through quarantine, that you are not risking the lives of others.
Kudos for being one of those that wants to help. DO NOT put others at risk. Stop whining that you cannot afford time in isolation to protect others.

political candidate?
A mid-term election is upon us. I am so happy! I have missed the back-biting and he said/ she said rhetoric that is American Politics. Yet again, if you listen to campaign ads, there are no good people on the ballots. What a sad state of affairs.
The most important topic still seems to be what party candidates are affiliated with. Never mind that the world is in turmoil at every corner of the globe. Religious fanatics with weapons, health epidemics, a growing "cold-war", to mention a few. There does not seem to be a serious effort to deal with so many issues because we are a two party system that is more concerned with "getting our way" than actually working out plans to cope with real issues at hand.
As each election time rolls around, I become more disillusioned with our governmental system. The system needs significant overhauling. That will undoubtedly take a great deal of effort, or a revolution by the public like those we have seen on TV. While revolution would be fun, I prefer that serious candidates emerge to champion such a cause.
Lets hope that before the next election rolls around that several good candidates materialize......so I don't have to enter politics!

Communicate
There has been a significant amount of turmoil in my family lately. There have been hurt feelings, anger and loss of contact. As is true with most conflict, emotion has been the ruling factor and there has been a significant amount of incorrect information or simply a complete breakdown in contact.
I have stated many times how important family can and should be. I have not said that maintaining relationships is always easy. But the largest hurdle to overcome is a lack of open and honest communication. That appears to be true in this episode of family feud.
While these struggles can be difficult to work through, they can be worked out and will generally make all involved stronger and better able to deal with the next version.
Take the time to communicate.
